Prenup to determine property division in Eastwood’s divorceOn behalf of Loughmiller Higgins, Attorneys at Law posted in Divorce on Friday, September 20, 2013.
The aging movie star, Clint Eastwood, is undergoing divorce proceedings. He and his wife are splitting up after 17 years of marriage. They have a 16-year-old daughter and Eastwood’s estate is estimated at a value of $375 million. Property division involving such a highly valued estate could result in a very expensive divorce; however, when a prenuptial agreement is in place, this risk is considerably reduced. This is holds true in Texas and elsewhere in the nation.
It was last month that Clint Eastwood’s spouse formally announced the couple’s separation. At this time, they have already filed for separation and the divorce is proceeding. Court documents show that a prenuptial agreement exists between the pair, but details pertaining to the agreement are unknown. Eastwood’s wife has asked for spousal support. She has also requested physical custody of the couple’s daughter.
In 1984, Clint Eastwood went through an extremely costly divorce requiring him to pay in excess of $23 million. Prior to marrying his current wife, he entered into a prenuptial agreement with her to protect his estate. Nevertheless, it is believed that the actor’s current wife will be cared for generously after the divorce has been finalized.
Texas residents who are considering divorce can seek assistance to make sure all aspects of their divorce, including property division, go as smoothly as possible. A sound legal strategy in a divorce can help to protect one’s rights in a split-up. A prenuptial agreement can also be helpful and/or harmful to anyone considering a divorce therefore it is important to fully understand the terms and legal ramifications of a prenuptial before it is signed.
